Mainframers avoid reboots because nobody's quite sure they remember HOW to boot the system. Uptimes are about as relevant as the computer's age, in days. We had a customer who got himself into a little jam on their IBM Multiprise (a sort of pseudo-mainframe) because someone used the bootloader PC for something else and one day a total system reboot was required in a rush.
UNIX admins boast when they have uptimes of hundreds and sometimes thousands of days. An new sysadmin working close to me was rather unhappy when he realized all his nice uptimes would be lost due to a long scheduled building outage. He felt this was unfair to the systems and wanted a way to patch the uptime counter when the systems come back up.
Windows admins with a few hundred days uptime are obviously not installing their service packs....
I don't think I've ever met a Windows admin who even cared about his system's uptimes in days. In percentage, maybe.
