Journal Journal: Moderation

I feel that there are a lot of problems with the way moderation currently works. This is not to say that the system is awful, because I think that if used properly, the current system is the only way to make this work. My problem is with the moderators themselves. People need to learn what to do with their mod points. Here are my suggestions for a few guidelines, most of which seem like common sense to me:

1. Don't give positive mod points to something that's already modded +5. That's just a waste. It's not going to change anything.

2. Don't mod something overrated unless it's been modded already. If something is modded +5, funny, and you think it's funny, but not that funny, by all means, mod it overrated. However, the opposite is not true: if something is +2, funny, and you think it's funnier, mod it funny, not underrated. To me, underrated is unnecessary. What this also means is that if something hasn't been modded, don't mod it overrated; there has to be something wrong with it.

3. Read at a low threshold, so you can see if there are any (which there usually are) posts that haven't been modded yet. There's not really any point in modding at a normal reading threshold of 4 or 5.

That's pretty much it for now. Maybe I'll add more later. I was just annoyed because I had a comment that got one moderation, and that was -1, overrated. Basically, don't be stupid.

Journal Journal: URLs 2

Whenever you post, it sais that <URL:http://example.com/> will auto-link a URL, but how do you get it to link a URL with a title of your choice? How do you get it to say, for example, "My homepage," and then have the link be to your homepage?
