Having worked at a public institution that posted all salary ranges, it typically goes something like this:
"Wanted: programmer ($40,000 to $80,000)"
Management is thinking 40k or maybe as high as 42k while the applicants are thinking 75k.

And in the real world, companies use lots of different 3rd-party services to aid their sites/services: they load fonts from Google or Typekit, they load JS libraries off of CDNs, they use marketing scripts from Marketo, adroll, 6sense, terminus, etc., etc., etc.
But if only they would listen to you and your simple-minded ideals.

You are right in what you say.
Why anyone would expect Apple to develop for Android is beyond me.
Depends on details of the purchase:
Are they being run as a wholly-owned subsidiary of Apple, Inc? Then why change how they have been running? Let this unit continue to produce and support an Android product. On the other hand, if they are being assimilated into the Apple collective then it makes no sense at all to expect them to continue with Android.
