The Iranian craniopagus sisters both died. It is a great tragedy. Whatever kind of persons they were, at the absolute minimum their determination toward a lofty goal is admirable. Unfortunately, we as a species are still far from understanding all the mysteries of ourselves, and they paid the price for this ignorance and undoubtly some (how ever little) overconfidence on the doctors' part. However as all adventurers down unknown paths, their brave journeys would invariably provide guidance for future generations. It is just a shame that such guidance always seem to come at such a high cost.

I should note that certain holywood producers may be kicking themselves right now for releasing a comedy based on this theme (Stuck On You, by Matt Damon and Greg Kinnear, for Decembe 2003 release).

There are other things today, but I will hold off on them because their significance are diminutive compared to the above.

  • Americans have such a low attention span and poor memory, that.. .ummm, oh yeah Hollywood plays on this, this, whatever it was I was talking about just now.

I don't think having Stuck On You be released in a few months is too close of a time for many Americans to remember that whatever bad thing that just happened, whatever that was.
    • " Americans to remember that whatever bad thing that just happened, whatever that was.
      "

Granted that whatever said incident is, it has nothing to do with the WTC.. or 9/11 :)
      • I guess I should clarify. I guess Americans have a tad longer memory for things that happen to them, but the conjoined twins weren't American or being treated in the US. Thus the short shelf-life of that cover story will fade not too long past Dateline Thursday's story on the subject (I don't really know that they are doing a story on this, but it's the kind of thing they would do).
  • that's so sad. i was starting to be identified with them, if only because the case was publicized so much and there was so much hope.

we are long way from getting there. i hope that at least this can help future research to succeed.
