Journal lingqi's Journal: December 26, 2002 1

December 26, 2002 (6:15pm)

Actually I have very little I can think of today.

Something worth mentioning is that in Japan, it is traditional to have a year-end cleaning (i.e. BEFORE the new year comes). The idea of a new-year's resolution is pretty common as well, though I am not sure what percentage is "quit smoking."

For our company, the cleaning day is tomorrow afternoon from 1-5pm. It is probably chosen because it is literally the last workday of this year. The neat thing is that the janitorial department sent out a mass-email and told everyone that cleaning supplied will be borrow-able starting at 1pm, which I assume they might actually have prepared somewhat for this event.

At any rate, being a messy person, My cubicle already desperately needs scrubbing and organizing, so tomorrow will be welcomed. On the other hand, after this cleaning the cube will have to survive for a whole year before "cleaning day 2003," so we will see how that fares.

The word is "åæZfé(TM)" in japanese, by the way. Pronounced "o-souji."

In the mornings I am noticing that the trains are dramatically less crowded. Especially that all the students are no longer riding. Maybe they get out quite a bit earlier than the rest of us?

Well, I won't keep everyone from their hectic gift returning / exchanging (besides nothing else interesting anyhow), and will cut short here.
