Jobs cuts were ridiculous and had no foresight/planning involved. Trump just wanted a 'win'. They have already had to hire back hundreds of people and the only thing worse than laying people off is laying them off then having to go back to rehire them later because you realized you shouldn't have laid them off. If they wanted to save money they could have cancelled Trump's failed birthday, military parade and given that money to actual programs that help people.
