The googlebots take up a great deal of bandwidth that Jack pays for
The googlebot takes up exactly the same amount of bandwith as one user browsing the whole site, once per index cycle, and it doesn't fetch images. How is this a 'great deal' of bandwidth?
Google then uses this information to draw actual human traffic from Jack's Expert Site
Um, no. Google then uses this information to drive actual human traffic
to Jack's Expert Site. How exactly were users going to find Jack's Site if Google didn't index it? By word of mouth? By spam email? Google is providing a public service - both to Jack and the viewers looking for his site - for free. Jack should be really freaking happy that Google bothers to visit his site and drive traffic there, because the alternative is paying Yahoo for inclusion in their search results.
