auxiliary docking rangefinder? (Score 1)

Does it have some kind of auxiliary docking rangefinder? I would assume they would know what the primary sounds like and not have to ask. But maybe not a backup. Although the pinging was fairly consistent, it did glitch fast once. Which leans me to believe the pings are not a constant alarm, but the actual measuring of something. Close by. At a guess....
