Journal leviramsey's Journal: Week 8 Picks 9

I'm officially in a deep slump, with a second consecutive bad week of picks. Hopefully this week will go better...

  • Atlanta @ New Orleans: NO by 12
  • Chicago @ Minnesota: MIN by 1
  • Cleveland @ NY Jets: CLE by 1
  • Detroit @ Buffalo: BUF by 8
  • Oakland @ Kansas City: OAK by 3
  • Pittsburgh @ Baltimore: BAL by 3
  • Seattle @ Dallas: DAL by 5
  • Tampa Bay @ Carolina: TB by 10
  • Tennessee @ Cincinnati: TEN by 8
  • Arizona @ San Francisco: SF by 2
  • Denver @ New England: DEN by 6
  • Houston @ Jacksonville: JCK by 16
  • Indianapolis @ Washington: IND by 6
  • NY Giants @ Philadelphia: PHI by 14

A major shakeup in the Top 12, as battered Miami cedes the number one slot to the Packers and Saints.

  • Green Bay
    New Orleans
  • San Diego
  • Denver
    Philadelphia
  • Miami
    Tampa Bay
  • Arizona
  • Oakland
    San Francisco
  • Indianapolis
  • Atlanta

Week 8 Picks

  • Jesus. Pittsburgh HANDS Indy their asses on a platter, the defense finally starts kicking butt, and they still get no respect? Baltimore beating Pittsburgh? Indy still in your top teams??

Pittsburgh ALWAYS kicks the Ravens arse up and down the field. The only reason they lost the first meetup last year was because Chris Brown missed 4 field goals.

Welp, I guess the Steelers play better when they feel they aren't getting respect...
    • The Ravens are on fire, to essentially the same extent as the Steelers (they're deadlocked in my power ratings in the middle of the pack). As general policy, I give the home team a field goal.

Also, with the number of Steelers that got banged up last night, I'd hesitate to pick them.

      • I'm gonna be at the Ravens game, yelling at the Steelers' punter as loud as I can.

A few years ago, we got him to yell back. I think he said something about a mother duck.

This year we're bringing signs and maybe a burnt, torn Josh Miller jersey. Or at the very least, a scorched Terrible Towel.

The severity of the taunting he shall receive may count for a couple points. :)
      • An update. Jerome Bettis and the center are both out for the Ravens game. Ray Lewis is 50-50. If Lewis plays, it will be a blowout in favor of the Ravens.

        • Sorry, thank you for playing.

A typical Steelers/Ravens clash -- the Ravens talk endless trash, focus on starting brawls, and end up getting whipped. That's 5 - 0 now.

It certainly would have been closer if Lewis played. He could've got Maddox's other ankle.

          A.
  • Philly surprises me the most out of that list. The Giants always play them hard. I live outside of Philly and we're more worried about the Giants than Tampa Bay and that game was pretty close for the first quarter. With that spread, I might have to take the Giants. But it is a crapshoot - hell Donovan could put up 40 points no problem if he's on. I just don't think that'll happen.

That was a good game for the Steelers, but I would hold off giving them the props, too. A couple more games like that, than yeah, I'd start to think of them as a force in the AFC, but there's just too many other good teams. Hell, I don't think they're better than ANYONE in the West.

oh yeah - I think the 'Cards are over rated and SF is going to open up a can on them this weekend. :)
  • Man, could they be much worse? If they lose next week, the post season is officially out of the question.

Too bad too, it seems after winning all those close games last year, they lose them all this year.

    13-3 to 2-4? You're kidding right?

Defense is beat to hell, offense is sluggish...can A-train run into the backs of his blockers a couple more times please?

My picks so far this year have been absolutely horrid, but the one bright shining spot for football and me:

I get off the weekend shift for good after this weekend. Yep, I can finally watch the damned games and see what all the fuss is about. :)

That is most excellent to hear!

I have heard rumors that the NFL will at some point start rebroadcasting the Sunday afternoon games throughout the following week to subscribers to NFL Sunday Ticket. Am I the only one who would really like to see that?

      • I have a really hard time watching the game after I already know what the score is. But, that might push me over the edge to get NFL Sunday Ticket IF they rebroadcast them at different times. Even with just 4 games I want to watch it's really hard to watch them all simultaneously.

Any program which runs right is obsolete.
