i've often said this about making gui's too intuitive. one of the nice things about computers is that you can batch process jobs

mv *.jpg pictures
find ~/ -name *.html -type f -exec grep password '{}' \;)

howerver eventually along this quest for intuitiveness we will have recreated the actual physical task. Well i have to search through every file, use a cool gesture to pick it up from one screen and move it to another. Maybe someday we will have haptic feedback, so the weight of the folder intuitively lets you know how many files it contains!

Comment avoid confidentiality agreements (Score 1) 232

avoiding confidentiality agreements, at least for the first interview and maybe second, seems like a reasonable request. Shady people are often the most paranoid, if they are trying to steal consulting from you, its likely they assume you might be trying to steal something from them. To prevent that, they may make you sign a confidentiality agreement prior to or during the interview. In later interviews, it should be more easier to discern between a real interview process and a scam. At which point you should be able to use your best judgment in regards to signing any agreements.

As a long time graduate student in engineering, I see my foreign colleagues forced to return to their country of origin or elsewhere due to immigrations difficulties and problems with student visa's all too often. These are students that are not only capable but also wanting to work in the US who we are basically throwing them away. Furthermore, I see this reform measure as further realization that the commoditization of higher education is a failure, and we must return to the original goals of educating individuals for the benefit of our skilled workforce.

I got an rpi, an mk802, and can't wait for the exynoses to come in. All pretty cool projects for slightly different markets. the mk802 is an easy choice for smartin' up my projector. the rpi is an easy choice for robotics tinkering and some home automation. while the exynos may serve a decent desktop thin client. ^ forgot about the 2gigs of ram woot!

raspberry pi isnt a cheap computer. it never was supposed to be, that was the goal of OLPC. Raspberry Pi is a development platform. From the ground up people can hack it at any level, get copious documentation at almost any level, versus the arguably cool, but completely closed allwinner based systems.
