Comment Re:Why India would want this (Score 1) 185

If India wants to stop terror attacks it needs to look for the source of the attacks (the leadership and the underlying reason) and neutralise them. Banning phones will just make them use wrist watches as timers or CB/HAM radio's or some guy with a long bit of string. Will India ban the sale of string? Meanwhile India turns into the oppressive state the terrorists complain about, whilst the average Indian suffers more under the state then from the terrorists. In the end, the terrorists win and barely had to lift a finger

You are right, but often the source of many of the terrorist organizations are in Pakistan...what can India do then?

I don't know about Saudi and UAE, but India is primarily concerned about this because of terrorism. Many of the recent bomb blasts were triggered by cell phones, all of which were registered under fake identities. Hence the concern. WirelessHD (WiHD) is back, originally announced in late 2006, the 1.0 spec has been pronounced fit for consumption and will be released later this year. What's changed in the last 14 months? HD dream team Intel, LG, Matsushita (Panasonic), NEC, Samsung, SiBEAM, Sony and Toshiba have added 40 other companies as well as approval from DRM watchdogs MPAA and DTLA for their 60Ghz-based standard. Move over cable vs. satellite, downloads vs. disc and HD DVD vs. Blu-ray, with UWB-equipped HDTVs already on the way, a battle to replace the still-tricky HDMI connection is the new HD battleground for 2008.
