This is getting so ridiculous. Transferring your OS from from a retired machine to a new one is theft? So then, under that logic, parting out an old car and using those parts in a new car would also be theft? We should be required to repurchase the parts when we have perfectly good ones already? It's almost impossible to even use a computer now days without breaking some sort of law.

Ever heard of the saying "You give an inch they take a mile"? If you give these people the power to criminalize people who may or may not be downloading files illegally, what rights are they going to take from you next? The main reason why I enjoy using the internet so much is because it's mostly open, free, and unrestricted (unlike the real world). It seems like every day the companies and governments around the world are trying to change that so the internet is barred and restricted. Ask yourself this question, Is it REALLY worth loosing your freedoms on the internet to protect the profits of a few companies? I really don't think so. This is OUR internet, this is OUR world. Don't let them take it from us.

Comment Just forget about consoles. (Score 0, Troll) 330

All these games should be made for the PC only because it's the only good gaming platform. Here's why: 1. Consoles are becoming more and more like computers, but in a half-baked and proprietary sort of way. 2. The Wii is only powerful enough to play watered down versions of today's demanding 3D games. 3. If developers don't have to port the PC game to consoles then you save costs and can afford to offer the game at a lower price. That can in turn bag more sales and save people money. 4. Computers offer freedoms that consoles cannot ever compare to. 5. Why buy a console for play and a computer for work when you can just buy the computer and save the money you would have spent on the console? 6. Games for the PC can be modded, extending gameplay and enjoyment. 7. Computer games are universal. You can't go over to your friend's house and play your PS3 version of Unreal Tournament on his Wii, but you can play your computer version on his computer! 8. Computers can play games, why should you spend more money on a console when you already have a machine that can (perhaps with a few upgrades) play games. 9. Playstation 3 = $300, 8800GTX = $100 10. You can build, upgrade, and repair a computer yourself. Try that with a console.

Comment Ultima Online (Score 1) 346

Back when I played Ultima Online (I was only about 11 years old at the time) I discovered a very interesting 'feature'.

You were not allowed to kill other player characters in towns, and if you did attack someone all that person would have to do is say "guard" and a guard would pop up out of nowhere and instantly kill you with only one hit. I found a way to use this to my advantage. There was an ability that would make a monster attack it's monster friends, or if the ability was unsuccessful, the monster would instantly target you instead. Well this ability could also be used on other players. So what I did is I would cast this ability on another person and it would fail because my skill level was too low, and then all I had to do was stand next to that player and s/he would automatically start to attack me. At that point I would just yell for the guards to come and it would kill them instantly, leaving only me and their body that I could loot and steal all the things they had with them at the time. Eventually after using this tactic I got caught by an admin, banned and the players had their things returned to them. I totally agree that I got what I deserved, but it was still fun as hell to watch people's complete and utter confusion as they attack me for no reason and then their items just disappear into thin air.

I know this was pretty much just cheating by exploiting a bug I had discovered, but it was definitely a new and unintended way of playing the game.
