Comment Orlando != Disney (Score 1) 214
I lived, worked, and studied in Orlando for six, too long, years. Then one day. I suddenly woke up and realized--OH My God where am I!!!! Orlando is a very very strange city. The actual city of Orlando is relatively small, its really surrounded by a couple much larger counties where most of the fun stuff takes place. But for the sake of this post, lets call Orlando and its surrounding countines: Orlando. Please for give the odd fragmented style of the post, I'm half asleep.... I suggest before you go to Orlando you prepare yourself for a major ontological and epistemological reorientation. Orlando is not Disney. But yet it is not totally different. As far as technology is concerned, there is very little hi-tech in Orlando itself. But rather, most of the hi-tech can by found in the surrounding counties. East of Orlando you have the University of Central Florida, the UCF-Research Park (IST, SEIC, At&t, Westinghouse), Lookheed-Martin, STRICOM headquaters (army simulation guys), and vairous other smaller development houses mostly contracters and people involved in the simualtion industry.
