Comment Lat/Long squirt of data every 5 minutes (Score 1) 461

Some planes have WiFi even over the sea. Bolt a humble smartphone to a bulkhead and install an app to send a squirt of data every five minutes. Phones require neglible maintenance and can contain GPS, accelerometer, gyroscope and battery backup in the event of power failure. A 3,499 Rupee phone costs far less than 100,000 Dollars and paying in Rupees generates wealth for a poorer country. At this price bung in a couple more to achieve triplex redundancy.

Esperanto estas la solvo - it solves the problem. It's not a foreign language as everyone owns it, not just foreigners; and not a computer language although it shares logical construction, 'beauty' and ease of use like the best programming languages; it is a blend of both. As for foreign languages teaching "mental dexterity" so does learning the Periodic table. Learning languages involves hours of practise with memorising ability being paramount; a skill difficult for many people. If all youngsters were taught in their native language and also one agreed simple international language such as Esperanto they'd have lots of memory space and time left to memorise important stuff in Science and Engineering. After all the human brain has only so much capacity before it decides it wants to go out and play.

A parallel /. article is 'Millionaire Plans Mission To Mars In 2018'. It is very sad to see such extremities; each of the 1.237 billion (1.237E9 or 1.237E12 depending on your persuasion but either way many more than this now) Indians lobs in an average of 5.8c whilst one millionaire (ie one person) can attempt a similar sort of Mars expedition.
