Yes, the startup time is pretty alarming, especially since no one warns you about it when you're buying a player. I purchased the Sony too, and it can take up to 2 minutes after pressing "On" just to load a new disk into an empty player. Then add the time to load the disk and you're looking at about 4-5 minutes.
So this is state of the art?
