Reading through the internal prompts, they read like a string of 'pep talks'. Something a coach, parent, therapist might say to an athlete.

It is almost as thought Apple's approach is to develop 'an inner monologue', a series of things the AI might need to tell itself to make it through another day of barrage of mind numbing prompts from these silly humans. We'll know we've hit the singularity when AI develops a drinking problem.

Comment Degrade in content validation (Score 1) 28

Anecdata as I noticed this myself. Programmatic buying platforms for advertising often have some built-in, automate checks to validate the content doesn't break guidelines. Some platforms also perform a quality check on the click-through URL of the ad to ensure it doesn't lead consumers to domains that are clearly fraudulent. Over the last six months, have noticed an increase in Ads / Sponsored content coming through Meta where the content (image/text) of the Ad unit had zero correlation with the content from the click-through URL (aka Landing Page).

Looking for trouble is kind of a hobby, so I'm likely clicking on more Ad content than a general user, also do it to obfuscate user data for the algorithm. Every time a clear error occurs or when I detect malware installation attempts, I report the content to Meta. A second disturbing pattern is Meta responds to these reports that there were no issues with the Ad / Sponsored content.

This content is making it through the first automated checks and also getting a pass by Meta once reported.

Comment Kill Switch = Ban (Score 1) 36

Not sure if presenting that detail would help TikTok in court. It means TikTok was amenable to a platform shutdown in the US market through a kill switch, which a ban would effectively do as well. The law that was passed is actually more gentle than an immediate kill switch and allowed TikTok to divest/monetize resources & IP within the market in advance of the "Kill Switch" being activated.
There really isn't much standing in court.

Comment Bruce Willis v Apple (Score 0) 125

It reminds me of a story which turned out to be false. 10+ years ago, Bruce Willis was going to sue Apple, it was something along the lines of access to his Apple Music library. As we "buy" digital access to things like music (and games) instead of purchasing physical copies like cassettes and CDs, is the ownership/access to the music (and games) transferrable via a Will in the same manner as bequeathing your record collection?

While that news story may not have been real, the question it posed is, and I believed the answer varied from service to service.

For some years Amazon was able to identify users, track user engagement, and track purchases completed on walmart.com. Around 2014-5 is when a majority of Amazon's tracking was discovered from the domain. It was less being a "mystery shopper" and more like having an Amazon employee follow every shopper in a Walmart store as they walk through the store and go through checkout.

It won't just reduce fart emissions, it will also reduce carbon emissions from the food production to support the population, as well as reducing the energy and fuel consumption of that group. You've discovered the secret solution to climate change. (/s of course. Although some circles do take this train of thought seriously)
