I suppose disabilities come in all forms. Physical, intellectual... My guess is that physically disabled people's commute times are longer. So WFH allowed them more comfort and freedom as well as free time not having to commute. If some people also moved further away, a longer commute time would also not be very fun... (Even non disabled employees are unhappy)...

Or pivot to management. That's what I did as a successful network engineer. It has been 3yrs, and a lot of growth, training and learning new social skills and techniques to successfully manage highly intelligent people across different generations and from new to multi decades of service. Not to mentioning managing a high visibility and important portfolio for the organization. Even if management isn't for you, people staying in the technical field need to be flexible, and willing to be life long learners and good at information sharing with colleagues.

I agree! Assuming the data centers have all the required infrastructure to go live (power, fiber, water, etc...) my hunch is that they will get used. I think a lot of people will be tempted to draw parallels to the Chinese ghost cities, but it might not quite be the same situation.
