Journal Journal: What's the OSI's problem with Canada?

After seeing a story on Slashdot I decided to check out the Open Society Institute (OSI). Amazingly enough, the OSI group seem to think that the United States is the only country in North America. Forget clicking on the "Looking for a Country?" link, Canada wasn't there either as of 10:30PM on September 26, 2007. So what gives OSI? Does your "global alliance for an open society" exclude Canada?

Journal Journal: Slashdot Rant

It seems to me that Slashdot should have a better method of reviewing submissions. Presently if you submit an article, a book review for example, there is no acknowledgement of the article until (if) it is posted. There are other news sources out there, some willing to pay for content. Posting on slashdot certainly reaches the widest range of Open Source people, but why should they wait weeks for old news or reviews?

Even a placebo such as an automated "received and under review" or a form letter acknowledging the article would be better than waiting, not knowing what Slashdot plans to do. Just a process observation, not a rant against slashdot; simply something that could be changed for the better.
