A government is not its people, as you can so clearly see in America. Keep in mind that Iran is one of the more modernized and science-investing nations in the region, so the boneheaded camel 'n' burka jokes are incredibly misplaced. I'm also willing to bet there are a lot more Iranians (home or abroad) in IT and tech who read this site than many of you would think.

Iran is a vast nation of heady jungles, dense forests, lush fields, snow-capped mountains, sandy beaches, leopards, eagles, flowers and the finest fruit east of Africa. And indeed, pristine desert. Not to mention the lovely people, of whom the vast majority resent the actions of their government.

Companies like Google are already at the government's beck and call when it comes to obtaining info on suspected lawbreakers/"terrorists". If the status quo remains on the same trajectory through the future, they would just be watching you watching them.
