TIOBE results doesn't makes much sense. They are using general web searching to rank their list. It seems Redmonk, http://redmonk.com/sogrady/201..., is more accurate which is basd on github and stackoverflow. I hope they also publish their new analysis soon.

Google show sign of not being an evil company. I like Google and cheers to them. When I see this, I know their decision for dropping H.264 to support WebM is a pure decision and despite of Suspiciously High number of posts in internet that Google is trying to be evil! They are not.

Last year when the Oracle's contract had not been finalized, we chose PostgreSQL over MySQL and this kinds of doubts that Oracle will be proper place for projects like MySQL was one of the reasons. It seems Oracle has indeed problem adapting the new approaches required for working on Free Software projects.

From the article: "Alcatel-Lucent isn't the only winner in a federal jury's $1.52 billion patent infringement award against Microsoft this week. Other beneficiaries are the many rivals to the MP3 audio-compression format... Now, with a cloud over the de facto industry standard, companies that rely on MP3 may finally have sufficient motivation to move on. Bernard Carayon wrote it it into the proposal entitled 'On Equal Terms' [French PDF]. But Chapter Eleven means a reorganization — not liquidation. And, surprisingly, SGI has dusted itself off and stood back up. What did they dust off? About $150 million worth of spending a year. Will this reorganization put them back as a player in the graphics game? Maybe but as the article notes, they have some stiff competition that offer comparable services for less money.
