Sprint's Xohm WiMax Network Debuts In Baltimore, Works Well 86

bsk_cw writes "Sprint's newly launched Xohm service is now offering America's first WiMax network. Computerworld's Brian Nadel went to Baltimore to try it out, and he reports that Xohm delivered data smoothly to a car moving at highway speeds, played YouTube videos flawlessly, and on average, pushed through more than 3Mbit/sec., compared with 1.3 Mbit/sec. for the AT&T network Brian used as a comparison. But right now, coverage is only planned in a few US cities; if Sprint isn't able to ramp up its coverage quickly, it may lose its advantage."

AT&T Breached, Exposes 19,000 Identities 143

mytrip writes to tell us News.com is reporting that a recent attack on AT&T's systems saw thousands of customers' personal data compromised. About 19,000 customers of AT&T's online store who purchased equipment for a DSL connection were affected. From the article: "AT&T is offering to pay for credit monitoring services for customers whose accounts have been impacted because they could be at risk of identity fraud. The company also has made available a toll-free number to affected customers to call for more information."

The company, Steorn, says its discovery is based on the interaction of magnetic fields and allows the production of clean, free and constant energy — a concept that challenges one of the basic rules of physics." I can't wait until I can use this free energy to power my flying car and heat my aquarium of mermaids.

Thieves often follow a car until it gets left in a quiet area, and they can steal it in about 20 minutes..."

Do you think they hire women to executive positions to fill some sort of quota? If they did, wouldn't they have more of them in those sorts of positions? I mean, seriously, think how good she had to be just to be in the running for a position like that. I don't know how you can say she wasn't very good at it. In business these shifts happen all the time, regardless of the skill of the ascendant or exile. And if you'll remember, HP stock went up when she joined, just as it went up when she left. I really don't know how you can say she wasn't any good at it.
