Actually some Ukrainian posts have fought back. There's not much more they can do since they largely disarmed themselves at the urging of the US (and a guarantee that we would defend them). The US has broken its side of the agreement, why would Ukraine keep it's side?
Also, was Poland disarmed like this before Germany invaded?

New research suggests that the clear screens and easily read fonts of e-readers makes your brain "lazy." According to Neuroscience blogger Jonah Lehrer, using electronic books like the Kindle and Sony Reader makes you less likely to remember what you have read because the devices are so easy on the eyes. From the article: "Rather than making things clearer, e-readers and computers prevent us from absorbing information because their crisp screens and fonts tell our subconscious that the words they convey are not important, it is claimed. In contrast, handwriting and fonts that are more challenging to read signal to the brain that the content of the message is important and worth remembering, experts say."

marklyon writes "HB 872, recently signed into law by Mississippi Governor Haley Barbour, makes Caller ID spoofing illegal. The law covers alterations to the caller's name, telephone number, or name and telephone number that is shown to a recipient of a call or otherwise presented to the network. The law applies to PSTN, wireless and VoIP calls. Penalties for each violation can be up to $1,000 and one year in jail. Blocking of caller identification information is still permitted."

The original article states, 'Nicholas Negroponte, director of the MIT Media Lab, predicts that we'll soon buy books and newspapers straight over the Intenet. Uh, sure.' The article continues to say that online shopping will never happen, that airline tickets won't be purchased over the web, and that newspapers have nothing to fear. It's an interesting look back at a time when the Internet was still a novelty and not yet a necessity."

What did Apple invent here?
An interface. That's all they invented was a great interface, and then slapped it on a phone. That's why the phone in $500, not because it's also an iPod like Jobs was trying to sell it as. Yeah the price will go down eventually, or at least the price will stay the same long enough for the rest of the market to inflate until it seems like the price went down.
