Figure I should mention this here. Once had a "media" server with RAID 5 across 3 250GB drives. Thought this was pretty resilient to failure until some sort of freakish motherboard event happened, rendering all the drives corrupted. RAID is great for fault tolerance/high availability like keeping a system up in the event of a single drive failure, but a mirrored machine in a remote location is the only thing that really is safe.
