Probably due to some market investigation. If the target destination is North America, Poles make quite a big part of the population there. The French are rather unlikely to buy Chinese toys to sing to them in French. The Chinese people may have their own taste too and do not see a cactus as a part of their culture.

I have the same feelings. I remember days of communism in Poland and a quite common attitude of people leaving outside of big cities was like "myself I can say what I want but I might like more food and beer". The shortage of beer eventually broke communism but nowadays the current government applies a modified but similar schema with just less of Russia and more of beer. People in rural areas seem to like it.

Nevertheless making public TV the propaganda tube of the government, forcing loyalty of the justice system, and tweaking the sizes of voting districts remind the old-style totalitarianism. But they still may be thrown away with single elections and their current chaotic run puts them very close to it. We will see soon.

Stadia should be getting more love here. It is not just a game streaming service but a platform by itself built on top of Debian Linux and Vulkan API and optimized for the cloud. So the fans of gaming on Linux should see some hope here. Games built for Stadia may be easily released in the future for regular Linux machines.

I am not convinced that even you understand the difference. The GPL does not draw a line between users and developers inflicting a conflict of interests. It rather assumes that users may want to be developers themselves but with this view I am afraid I might be perceived even as a bigger weirdo than you.

I think here about adopting 8 bit computers in 80ties vs waiting till Facebook becomes a commodity. The waiters saved some money but by that time many of the early adopters had careers in computing.

Free Software as defined by GPL is not that either. The software is free as being unrestricted in how it is used including its source but it does not mean that it must be available to anyone under no condition and free of charge.

Personally I am not aware of any license that makes such a statement. Thinking like that is just the result of the hype around the Open Source and how it was presented to common people. With portraits of Stallman on a red background and quotes in pseudo Cyrillic. But free (as speech) vs free (as beer) is even a more lost case today than hacker vs cracker. Stallman and co. should have thought more about it at the beginning and choose the wording more carefully. Like using a term that is less hype'able but more accurate. Maybe 'unrestricted'? But it would be too boring to attack any attention.

His principal concern was Internet as a potential threat to democracy being used with AI in China to control its citizens, by GAFA companies in the US to collect data and by kids themselves to develop dependencies similar to drug or alcohol abuse. People living in Europe are exposed to those threats in the same way like those in the US.

He did not hint how to solve those problems but one may expect that Europe not being economically and politically influenced by Internet companies may have more incentives to control and regulate Internet.

From my perspective the principal source of information used by the friend suggestions is the GPS data.

If your friends are the only persons coming close to your house Facebook will easily detect it no matter how spooky you are about hiding your cookies and identity. On the other hand I live in a town being a touristic destination and I am getting a lot of annoying false positives about friends living in some cross-planet locations. Looking at their profiles I often find that have just made a trip to a place near me and probably walked close to my apartment.
