Ah, Avro, now there was a company that knew how to make planes!! My personal favourote being the Vulcan, a cold war era nuclear bomber. Whilst the amercans were lumbering around in thier b52's, the RAF were flying an aircraft the size of a 737 which could outmanouvre an F-15 in a high altitude dogfight. Awesome bit of kit.
