One of the more shocking public surveys I've ever seen found that the majority of people would not pay $100 to see a live dinosaur.
Now this thread is filled with comments against this project, from "frankenstein" to "why bother".
I truly don't understand people.
>If they were they would have hired someone like RMS, or Bruce Schneier, or someone else with a history in the Open Source or Privacy movements.
Good point.
CrowdStrike wasn't hacked. Their mess was entirely their fault. What I have a problem with is blaming developers when hackers break into a system using some vulnerability. Can you sue Master Lock when thieves use bolt cutters to break into your shed?
Since climate change is, supposedly, a world-ending threat, there
is no limit to the power and resource confiscation it will justify.
Look forward to:
- UN deciding which industries are permitted to receive investment
- UN deciding which businesses are permitted to manufacture products
- A relentless flood of "climate refugees" into all western lands
This is regardless of the veracity of the climate change claims.
>There are too many layers of grift and red tape.
Don't forget the inevitable nuclear melt-down sacrifice to DEI.
> Spectre makes dumb panels without any smart apps or networking ability.
This sounds like my brand - but do you mean "Sceptre"?
Assuming you never use a streaming service, is it possible to remove or disable the hardware network modules on these TVs?
I see zero reason to believe the manufacturers won't rationalize your data into their possession somehow - regardless of opting out, disabling through their UI, or even declining to connect the thing to a router.
While we're on the subject: I believe it's possible for ethernet signals to travel over HDMI. If you connect a computer graphics card to a TV's HDMI port, is there any possible route from the TV onto the network the computer is connected to?
"The lawsuit said the recordings are all available on authorized streaming services and 'face no danger of being lost, forgotten, or destroyed.'"
Baby, it's cold outside...
I have a six-digit ID that is lower than previous poster. The oldest artifact I can find for my account is from 2009, but I feel like I've been here longer than that...
It was the first time I thought of a browser interface as "cool".
Oh no! What will Free software do without the OSI!
So: if you are a young woman, and know you have a 1 in a million chance to die to stroke if you take the vaccine, are you gonna take it?
Hmm...using US statistics, death rate from covid is about 0.14%. So, no vaccine, chance of death is 0.14%. Take the vaccine (assuming 1 in a million chance of death), chance of death is 0.0001%.
Yeah, that's a tough one alright. 0.14% vs 0.0001%...which to choose....
Or are you, by chance, trying to suggest that young women are, in general, idiots?
In my age group and location the chance of dying if I get Covid is something like 5%, while my chance of going to jail if I knock off a CVS is 2%. That makes it an easy one. Especially since everyone is wearing hoodies and masks right now.
The governments that made the decision to put AZ on hold were being advised by scientists.
So either the scientists said hold it, or the politicians decided to against their advice. Going against the scientific advice could look bad when each country comes to review its response, usually through some kind of public enquiry.
Either there is some data we aren't seeing that has lead scientists to a temporary pause for further investigation, or politicians are being overly cautious. My guess is the former, and in a few days they will announce that a review has cleared it.
Politician: Is it conceivably possible that the vaccine is responsible for clotting?
Scientist (sweating): Conceivably possible? Err. maybe
Politician: OK, shut it down.
I agree that quantum theory is pro-simulation evidence. The idea that the Universe updates in discrete steps based on probability? Hmm. The world is just a complex version of Conway's Life.
