Comment Many are missing the point of a college education (Score 1) 412

Many people feel a college education is structured with a focus placed on getting the student a job. This is how many students take it, in reality colleges and universities want to enrich the student as a whole. This is how most of the people in academia would like it to be. Of course starting salaries and big corporate sponsors are good for the bottom line. Working in groups may be a good skill for a programming job, but only through individuals practicing and working with pieces of code can they become enriched. Being enriched students they can then apply those skills learned through individual study to a "job skill". Just a view from a student AND a member of the work force.
