I probably won't bother to delete this if the story is accepted. You, the readers of my journal, have the chance to view the Mysterious Future (unless the story is rejected, in which case it becomes the Mysterious Past :-)). Without further ado:
In a move that once again demonstrates the typical corporate lack of a sense of humor, Sony has threatened legal action to take down the Web site of a parody band. Beatallica, who do Metallica-flavored renditions of classic Beatles songs (such as "Leper Madonna" and "Got To Get You Trapped Under Ice"), took down their site at Beatallica.org, though Google still has a cached version of the latest page. There's a petition at PetitionOnline if you want to show your support of the beleaguered musicians. This was covered on BoingBoing a couple of weeks back; Beatallica has MP3s on MetaFilter, and has been mentioned on quite a few blogs.
Update: Rejected, about a half hour after submission. I thought that this was a good one. Oh, well - those Metafilter MP3s won't be Slashdotted, anyway. :-)

The Rutles are just parodying the Beatles. Beatallica are doing "live mashup" of Beatles and Metallica.
