Of course, a country-wide power outage is not so good for the Chilean Internet. It looks like problems started about 18:30Z (3:30pm local time) and got worse quickly, as we descrribe.

We're seeing a huge number of networks unavailable in Ontario and New Brunswick. About 30% of Toronto's IPv4 /24s, and 45% of /24s in Moncton, NB. We describe this at https://ant.isi.edu/blog/?p=18...

We observed the outage in Trinocular, an Internet-wide outage detection system---the animation is at https://ant.isi.edu/outage/ani/centurylink202008/index.html. This is one of the largest U.S. outages in some time!

This is bad news for Liu Cixin https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Three-Body_Problem_(novel)
but maybe good news for humanity.
