Submission + - Checkers has been solved (nytimes.com)

jnguy writes: The New York Times reports that after 18 years, researchers at University of Alberta have created a checker playing computer that cannot loose. The computer does not process every one of the 500 billion billion board positions, but instead limits itself to positions seen during the course of a normal game.
