Samsung's Solid-State Disk Drive Unveiled 241

Iddo Genuth writes "After unveiling their upcoming hybrid hard drive, Samsung — along with a number of other manufacturers — is planning to begin shipping solid-state drives during 2007. Unlike the upcoming hybrids, solid-state drives should work with windows XP as well as Vista." The drives will be introduced in 1.8- and 2.5-inch form factors for notebooks. While streaming performance can't equal that of hard disks, Samsung claims that random-access performance is more important and that (e.g.) Vista users would see a 4x speedup in many key operations. Pricing was not announced.

Submission + - Bluetooth mouse case mod

tekrat writes: "We've had PC case mods aplenty. They are now boring unless they are really off the wall, but hey, what about your PC's accessories? Here's a guy that decided to modify the case to his new bluetooth optical mouse, and house it in something much more classy — a SUN type 3 optical mouse. Now all he needs to do is modify the keyboard as well. Not only is the link a decent hardware hack, it shows a bit of computing history as well. That optical mouse with the bright red LED in it you're using right now was invented before most of the people reading this story were born!"

Submission + - Wii remote Linux driver

Espinas217 writes: So you want to play with your Wii and the little penguin? Take a look at this guy's project, they want to join the two worlds and started making drivers for the Wii remote for Linux so you can control your mouse with the wiimote.
From their site:
WiiLi is our long goal: Linux for the Wii. Before WiiLi comes WiiLi Live, a Live CD that turns standard PCs into a media and gaming center designed around the Wii Remote. We're developing on PCs right now, with hopes of porting WiiLi to the Wii later on.
For those of you who don't like to read here is a nice video of the wiimote used to draw in Inkscape
