The Democrats are heavily in the pocket of big tech. Just look at the donation breakdown by party. Big tech stands to reap the most gain from blocking a true right to repair, so it's completely unsurprising that a Democratic governor would do this.

The biggest travesty in Doom's legacy is the fact that DOOM 2016 & Eternal are not open source and likely never will be. They will not have share in the legacy of the original and will be lost to the annals of history, where as the 1993 classic will continue to thrive.

The most amazing thing the establishment in the USA has done as of late is convince the population that they are the resistance. There's not a single bureaucracy within the government, and very rarely is there one in the private sector, that hasn't been infiltrated with leftism in the form of HR departments, equity-diversity-inclusivity officers, and other forms of non-meritocratic and unscientific politically-based employment practices - yet somehow their point of view is portrayed as the resistance.

There's really no surprise in this article. Of course genetic modification leads to superior crops and reduced reliance on fertilization, irrigation, and other energy-intensive processes. For whatever reason, it seems to scare the uneducated, which will remain the biggest hurdle to adoption.

Social media companies sway public opinion and know more about citizens than their governments do. As said companies can afford to buy so many votes and the ties between them and government become more and more incestuous, the First Amendment becomes more and more irrelevant and the overall speech of the society becomes less and less free. People of the future won't even know what free speech was, when everything is written in corporate newspeak and run through HR/PR ministries of truth.
