Submission + - Google talks about future of Google News

Stony Stevenson writes: One of Google's most popular and controversial services, Google News, is the aggregation and search site that media companies love to hate because it has become a major source of Web traffic and frustrations for many of them.

In this interview, Nathan Stoll, a Google product manager involved with Google News, discusses the future of Google News and a possible marriage with YouTube.

Some of the future additions: "In an ideal world, Google News would show you who broke the story and the other articles that built on that. There are places where we're not doing that perfectly today."

Journal Journal: SuperKendall is a corporate shill

User SuperKendall is a corporate shill for Sony. This is a note to myself to remember to use some of the mod points that I get with my other account(s) to mod him down weekly. We'll start him on a program - he only gets 2 downmods from me per week. If he doesn't straighten up, we'll have to increase his dosage.

I am trying to educate these swine!

Submission + - Why are T1 lines still expensive?

badfrog writes: Over the last 10 years, DSL and cable modem has upped its speed (although in some instances only slightly) and dropped its price. However, the price of a T1 has stayed almost exactly the same. If you had asked me 10 years ago, I would have predicted any geek that wanted to would have fiber or their own T1 line to the house by now. What is with this sad state of affairs that a 'business class' 1.544Mbit connection is hundreds of dollars more than a 6Mbit cable connection? Is it a legitimate case that a high upload rate should increase cost so significantly?
