Samba seems a more likely candidate, I'm not familiar with how all these things work internally, but It strikes me that this thing is no different than an internet connection. In my ignorance, I assume that Samba essentially passes around knowledge of what the filesystem contains, which is no different than if I was hosting a website off of a Windows machine. In fact, if I'm allowed to (S)FTP into a windows box, or run a website which shows my entire filesystem over an intranet, then isn't that isomorphic to Samba? (I use Isomorphic since the given setup is certainly not as useful as Samba, but it does the same job.)

Again, I have no Idea how Samba or any network file system works, but it certainly seems that the argument against it is kindof flat.

Flamerule writes "A New York Times article has finally provided an update on the status of Grigori Perelman's 2003 rough proof of the Poincaré Conjecture. 3 years ago, Perelman published several papers online explaining his idea for proving the conjecture, but after giving lectures at MIT and several other schools (covered on Slashdot) he returned to Russia, where he's remained silent since. Now, mathematicians in the US and elsewhere have finally finished going over his work and have produced several papers, totaling 1000 pages, that give step-by-step, complete proofs of the conjecture. In addition to winning some or all of the $1,000,000 Millennium Prize, Perelman now seems to be the favorite to receive a Fields Medal at the International Mathematics Union meeting next week, but it's not clear that he'll even show up!"

The raiding scene in World of Warcraft is going to dramatically change once Burning Crusade is released. Here's the long and short of it: all of the new high-end raid content will be capped at 25 heads. Indeed, all the raid content that was mentioned in today's demo, with the exception of Kharazan (which is designed for 10 players) is being designed around a force of 25. Blizzard has completely done away with 40-man raiding; Molten Core, Blackwing Lair, the Temple of Ahn'Qiraj, and Naxxrammas will still exist, of course. There just isn't going to be any new 40-man content. How's that for earth-shattering?"
