REALbasic might be a good option (Score 1)

I'm not sure how to best articulate VB's deficiencies, but I've had a lot of luck with REALbasic. RB will look very familiar to VB users, and it compiles for Windows, OSX, and Linux, and its apps don't require a virtual machine. Now that Microsoft has abandoned VB, REAL Software has been marketing their product as its successor, so you might want to check it out.
