People are the weakest link in security. I'm just a junior workin on dual Bachelor's and then going for my master's and one thing that has remained constant, the human factor.

ya'll can argue over the best products all day long, but those products won't be as effictive or as efficient as their potential states them to be without someone at the helm who knows what they're doing.

I just thought I'd remind ya'll of the human factor in security, as this section was starting to look like a metaphorical cock fight between firewalls and such.

Journal Journal: Windows' Source

Well it appears now that the source for Windows is out on the net. I've often wondered when this would happen. Oh well, its not really the complete source for windows, but its enough to make people curious, the way I see it, it'll either hurt or help MS, though I'm seriously not surprised that the windows source hasn't been out on the net earlier.

Journal Journal: I knew it!!

The W32.Welchia.Worm which fixes the W32.MSBlaster.Worm is causing even more problems throughout networks across the planet. It has been upgraded to a Category 4 worm, considering its generating as much or more traffic than the MSBlaster worm that gets eaten by the Welchia Worm. my first journal entry is a story that I submitted to slashdot to go on the main page, it was rejected, hmm, that's funny considering it all.

Journal Journal: Kazaa User fights back against RIAA.

an article in Rueter's says that a Verizon ISP customer who will be sued by RIAA has hired lawyers and told Verizon not to turn over her identity, as well as her lawyers have told RIAA to keep quiet about her identity. Citing constitutional rights, the user has so far kept her identity private. However, RIAA is not backing down and is challenging the petition and saying that they are right in this matter.

Journal Journal: new worm eats ms blaster

yeah there's a new worm on the net now that disables the msblast worm, even though its a variant of the original ms blast worm. looks like someone is tryin to do their penance, cuz this thing also updates your system, which could be a headache for good sysadmins, but is a plus for lazy home users and lazy sysadmins. update update update (sql slammer anyone?)

I Don't think it would be wrong for Taco to keep the link active.
Joe could Temporarily take down his server, remove the stuff getting slashdotted, write a CGI that sends a small error message and apology to 99/100 requests that have slashdot as the referer.
Joe has Lots of Options here.
I think that if you can't stop people from doing something (linking, copying a DVD, whatever) in Code (or otherwise technologically) Maybe you shouldd't be trying to stop them.(As opposed to having the courts back up your useless code)
