Any suggestions for a soon to be graduating college student with *no* money? (Looking for reliability more than economy.)

Buy Japanese, which will fit both reliability and economy.
My last car (a '92 Honda Civic) was running when I sold it to my brother at ~180 000 miles, and is still running two years later, and gets >30 mpg. Civics w/ stick shifts can actually accelerate well enough to merge onto a freeway w/o red-lining.
