Bantumi is equal to the game of Kalah. This game is invented in the 1950s in the USA and was already solved last year by a student (Geoffrey Irving) and myself on a plain desktop computer. (See ICGA Journal, Vol 23, No. 3. pp. 139-148) Kalah has the same number of holes and stones as Awari, but the rules are such that the game is less complex. Kalah is a win for the first player.
