Comment You are all missing the point (swoosh) (Score 0) 203

It seems pretty clear to me from the comments that none of you understand the distinction of tribes and other races or religions. Tribal nations are sovereign nations and thus more than either. The request may be rooted in cultural implications but tribes have a legal right at least to be consulted with. They are sovereign nations with legal rights to what happens on (or from) American soil, even if it's just a seat at the table. Regardless, i think bringing human remains (a cultural event) to the moon should involve some sort of a discussion in general, and not just with tribes.

Seriously, your concerned their going to raise price on their $1200 phone because of right to repair? Any one that understands market knows it is going to have a negligible effect on their pricing which is aimed solely at price gouging the need the newest tech people. Without pushback Apple would monopolize every aspect of the market they can. All this allows for is a healthy market of small business repairmen to follow a consistent repair process approved by the vendor. It puts a little more trust in the repair shops. Honestly this should be required for any equipment a vendor makes so we can hinder this "cheaper to buy a new one" economy we live in.

Comment Cost Efficiency (Score 1) 27

Does anyone consider efficiency for these projects? $600,000 to deploy buses to 110 locations for 6 hours a day (weekday only). Your talking about bus drivers, IT professionals and some hot spot equipment, just so you can provide slow internet for a select few students that will have to likely go outside near the bus to even connect. I would suspect the actual number of students that end up benefiting from this is very low because of how frustrating the use would be. Just imagine if that 600,000 was spent on actually connecting these impoverished neighborhoods & homes with 24hr high speed internet. Plus the return on that would actually go beyond the remaining school year as some families may choose to stay connected out of pocket.
