Hello, It can happen that the algorithms used by researchers to prove such or such result need very specific initial conditions, or use shortcuts that do not reflect the whole range of possibles. We are very much aware of this problem and of the doubt it casts into people's minds, and this is why our algorithm and the complete dataset is freely available at www.languagedata.org. Included are methods to "move" the data around, and the fitting methods, so that you can see for yourself our results are extremely robust.
