It remains to be seen how much Microsoft has paid for GitHub, but why pay anything if they're unprofitable?

Because thanks to the magic of ToS that can be changed on a whim, Microsoft can just magik in a "all your codes belongs to us" clause.

There's one big difference between the South and the North, and it is closely related to why it's Chattanooga that has muni fiber and not, say, Memphis. That difference is called "black people". Blacks cannot be allowed to control things, because they make an utter hash of it - if you don't think so, name one majority-black city you would want to live in and believe to be well-governed. He's heard of Detroit, Gary, Compton, Memphis...

Windows 8 Pro (which I have) has the ads. However, the ads are in a couple built-in apps, like Finance, not in the OS itself. The Finance app itself is actually pretty good, but it's really nothing more than a website with a Metro layout. The main problem I see with it, beyond ads, is that it's slow to load.

It's also in Windows 8 Enterprise.
