Other nations, including Japan, Italy, and Switzerland, have announced plans to pare back nuclear power, but none have gone as far as Germany, the world's fourth-largest economy. Merkel vows to replace nuclear power with alternatives that do not increase greenhouse gases or shackle the economic growth. Could the US do the same? An increasing number of reports suggest it is not beyond the realm of possibility, and Germany could provide a road map."

I run a 730-core cluster on debian/gridengine. We're a debian shop, and keeping the cluster platform the same as our desktops is an advantage. Configuring gridengine takes some effort, but so far we're pleased with the result.

An anonymous reader writes "During several months of 2009, Moscow police looked at fake pictures displayed on their monitors instead of what was supposed to be video from the city surveillance cams. The subcontractor providing the cams was paid on the basis of 'the number of working cams,' so he delivered pre-cooked pictures stored on his servers. The camera company CEO has been arrested."

The software is GPL'd and there doesn't appear to have been a Minivend company. Or perhaps I missed it.

As far as I can tell, the only thing that happened here is that they hired the principal developers.
