Don't be so sure. When I interviewed for my current job, I came out of it convinced that it was my worst ever performance in an interview, and I didn't have a hope in hell of getting the job. Yet they called me back a few days later for a second interview, and here I am...

He had a bunch of time to come up with questions and scenarios that were designed to be tough. He's just like a teacher. He has the book with all the answers. I'm sure he just expected you to give answers that shows you know how to think things through.
