Comment $260000?! Have you heard of Aptera recently? (Score 1) 102

Solar cars can be an intriguing prospect, but usually only for very specific use cases, like when people don't have access to charge where they park, like apartment dwellers.

I have access to on street parking, and live in a sunny location and don't drive that much, which is why the Aptera makes a lot of sense for me, and I can actually afford it, unlike this thing.

The Aptera isn't in production yet, though it's getting closer by the month and actually has a very good chance of succeeding.

There is no real reason *why* this car needs to cost $260000 dollars other than because they don't care about making it actually affordable and attainable for the masses.

Also: The Aptera seems to be a better Solar car in most aspects: it gets more range for an average day of charging, 40+ miles best case scenerio, which is most than most people drive in a day... did I mention it's also *NOT* $260000?

Yes, the Aptera isn't in production yet, but they've built many working betas and alpha cars and are aiming to have production going by the end of the year, at somewhere near $30000.
