The most recent bizarre whim has been to downgrade the shopping list, I could add things using the google nest stuck to the side of the fridge ( I Know, OK) and then look up the accumulated items when I was in a shop, very handy! Now the pictures of the items, the appropriate suggestions and category sorting have all gone away, it's just a VERY plain and function free checklist.

A Real Bill Gates Rant 293

lou ibmix XI submitted an email written by Bill Gates a few years ago and turned over to the feds as part of the government's antitrust case. Great quotes like 'Someone decided to trash the one part of Windows that was usable?' and 'The lack of attention to usability represented by these experiences blows my mind.' We like to think of him as an abstract, but I think this is interesting stuff. Also, this might seem familiar. Oops.

In order to foster innovation

Can I read this as a tacit admission that patents do not foster innovation when held secret by corporations, I think I have heard that somewhere!
Does the possibility that IBM might imply this (vaguely) not carry as much weight as millions of open source advocates shouting in the wilderness.
