Dragon Age 2 Announced 183

Today BioWare announced a sequel to Dragon Age: Origins, titled Dragon Age 2. They've opened an official site for the game, which shares some vague details and concept art, and promises a trailer in mid-August. The story will apparently span an entire decade and involve a new hero, but it will be located in the same world as the original game. The site says there will be "dynamic new combat mechanics," though the same three basic classes will be available. More information should be forthcoming in this month's issue of Game Informer.

Indian Military Hopes to Weaponize the Searing "Ghost Pepper" 267

coondoggie writes "The military in India is looking to weaponize the world's hottest chili, the bhut jolokia or 'ghost pepper,' according to a number of news outlets. The Bhut Jolokia chili pepper from Assam, India is no ordinary pepper. In tests first conducted by the New Mexico State University in 2008 and subsequently confirmed by Guinness World records and others, the Bhut Jolokia reached over one million Scoville heat units, while the next hottest, the Red Savina Habenero, clocks in at a mere 577,000. Scoville units are a universally accepted measure of chili hotness."

You are not "Getting Paid To Abandon an Open Source Project?" What you are doing is getting paid to help someone implement this open source project for their company. Of course they want you to sign a non-competition clause. You're putting all your mental energy and time into the project. They want to pay you for that time and passion.

Instead of feeling guilty for "abandoning" a project that does not pay you anything for your good work, feel proud that someone is excited enough about your project that they want to pay you to customize it for their organization.

Besides, a project that depends entirely on you to keep going is not stable. If your project fills a need, someone else will step in and take the mantle. You need to step back, take the job, and let your project grow up.
