janeowit's Journal: I think I am going to be sick

I offically hate my computer. So, this paper I have been working on, around 3am I finally finish, then my computer crahses because of its stupid driver error. Ok. Ok. So when it restarts the auto recovery file is there, everything is ok. Then computer crashes again. When I start it back up, no auto recovery file. Because "Any recovery files that have not been saved are deleted when you quit Word". Well I didn't have time to save it, or else I would have. There goes my 5 page paper on travel medicine and the Congo.

I bet it is still on my computer somewhere, I just don't know how to find it. I am going to kill myself now.

UPDATE: It is 6:02 am and I am offically re-done with my paper. It's a good thing I get to sleep in until 10:45.

As for the paper being better, it literally got a page shorter, and I would estimate it is 78% less humorous.

I can whole heartily recommend buying File scavenger for work ,I got a copy of it for the office incase anyone screws up something .
They have , and it was able to recover a hell of a lot of things (including some porn the person had on the computer :D that was funny when I started asking them about it)

Yeah I was going to mention that then forgot whilst finding links for file recovery stuff .
Ctrl+s , should be something you use as a section mark ;) , but now I see someone else already mention that , so this is totally redundant

Whenever I am writing something, I ctrl+s after every line/paragraph/thought. Which tends to keep work safe.

Of course, Word's architecture is designed so that once you hit ctrl+s 2000 times, it runs out of allocated file handles or something like that and crashes in a really weird manner. Which is super-annoying. I've had that happen on at least five papers, and then I read a blog entry by one of the Word programmers about why that happens. Saving too many times makes Word die? Bah.

Wow. I can't imagine saving a document 2000 times. In fact I really think I learned my lesson about maybe saving something at least once in the five or so hours the file was open. Yeah. I think we need to find a happy medium.
