I would actually buy them but they are DRM encumbered. I like the Zahn books, but borrowed them from the library when I read them. It just isn't worth paying for something that I can't use in a convenient way and can be taken away from me at the whims of some execs and lawyers.

arcticstoat writes "Intel's Pat Gelsinger recently revealed that Larrabee's 32 IA cores will in fact be based on Intel's ancient P54C architecture, which was last seen in the original Pentium chips, such as the Pentium 75, in the early 1990s. The chip will feature 32 of these cores, which will each feature a 512-bit wide SIMD (single input, multiple data) vector processing unit."

2008 Beijing Olympics as a Media Test-Bed 134

CNN is reporting that NBC is using the 2008 Olympics in Beijing as a test-bed to understand how people are using different media platforms. "NBC has scheduled 3,600 hours of Olympics programming on its main network, along with Telemundo, USA, Oxygen, MSNBC, CNBC and Bravo. That's the equivalent of eight days of programming packed into each day. In addition, the company is planning to make 2,200 hours of streaming video available on NBCOlympics.com. Consumers may also get video on demand via their computer and Olympics content through their mobile phones."

pfSense is a BSD based router distribution. It has out of the box support for multiple WANs. It can do load balancing when both connections are up and fail over if there is an outage. I find DIY solutions based on Linux or BSD are more reliable than commercial products unless you spend a lot.
