Use the "Off" button when you're out for a movie, on a date with your girlfriend or having a beer with your buddies. It will improve your social life, relieve some stress and you might stop looking like a pedantic ass.

This doesn't always help... The power button is extremely touchy and sometimes when you think that you turned your phone off, it will be on and dialing someone in your pocket. If you *really* want it to be off, turn off the cell radio and lock it. Maybe put it into standby as well.

Not to say that this would stop it from turning off... the blackberry is the only phone I have encountered which can be turned off while the keys are locked. As long as you hold the power button long enough, it will turn off, regardless of whether or not the keys are locked. This is the most annoying "feature" I have ever encountered and you can't turn it off. -jalsk
