Comment Russians, too (Score 2) 229

As the disinformation-propaganda Putin outlet that is, Russia today has tried hard to sow panic and distrust in a most obvious fashion, positively overshooting its job this time. Every good liar has to mix in some truth into his lies but this time the guys went so far it was obvious what they were doing. Everyone lies,we know that, but WTH. So no wonder that the chinese are playing that game too. In truth almost everyone has somewhat screwed up this time. And talking about screw ups of course the Don is a shining star here.

I don't think many of them will be good at becoming self sufficient pioneers to survive in a world devoid of people willing to serve their needs. Good luck when their food stashes are gone, when their stuff needs maintenance and needs to be fixed, when they need medical assistance but drugs nor physicians aren't around any more . Then they'll finally grasp that without other people around they are just a bunch of spoiled idiots good for nothing sitting over a pile of banknotes.

I used to like the journalism of outlets like rt.com because at least they were giving a different version of facts, usually coming up with news inconvenient to the west, given that everyone is lying all the time for his own interest and one should listen to all opinions and points of view to get a bigger picture. But now, now, Russia Today and the rest of that galaxy like sputnik news, mixi media etc are clearly attempting to sow panic and disinformation in the west. Their agit-prop potential has been ramped up to 11 , to the point that it partially fails its purpose, being so obviously biased and partisan. They are really trying to stir waters and rile up people. Also the comment sections are usually populated with neonazis and the vilest brainless conspiracy theorists, including this new breed of anti-5G braindead junkie zealots. Pretty disgusting if You ask me.

Submission + - More "LSD can be good for you" news (cnn.com)

clovis writes: From the Journal of Studies on Alcohol and Drugs https://www.jsad.com/doi/10.15... comes three case studies on people who benefited from LSD overdoses including one woman who took a dose of 55 milligrams of pure powdered LSD, oops. https://www.cnn.com/2020/02/27...

"The 49-year-old woman, known as CB, had contracted Lyme disease in her early 20s, which damaged her feet and ankles and left her in "significant pain." In September 2015, she took 55 milligrams of what she believed was cocaine but was actually "pure LSD in powder form." The authors defined a normal recreational dose as 100 micrograms — equal to 0.1 milligrams. The woman blacked out and vomited frequently for the next 12 hours but reported feeling "pleasantly high" for the 12 hours after that — still vomiting, but less often. According to her roommate, she sat mostly still in a chair, either with her eyes open or rolled back, occasionally speaking random words. Ten hours later she was able to hold a conversation and "seemed coherent." Her foot pain was gone the next day and she stopped using morphine for five days. While the pain returned, she was able to control it with a lower dose of morphine and a microdose of LCD every three days. After more than two years, in January 2018, she stopped using both morphine and LSD and reported no withdrawal symptoms, although the case report said she did experience an increase in anxiety, depression and social withdrawal."

But of course all cameras have been manipulated by the manufacturer, of course... The trouble with flat earthers is the psychosis : they will deny all evidence and if one of them one day will be ever able to see a round earth with his own eyes, two are the possible outcomes: 1) he won't believe his very eyes and will start claiming of having been drugged or that false memories were implanted into his brain by the CIA - reptilians - illuminati etc. 2) other flat earthers will claim he is a paid liar, or -> #1 There is no way talking someone out of a psychosis. I have a friend of mine who is a flat earther, because she is utterly and completely off her rocker and will start rabidly yelling at you if you dare criticize her deranged views about life, the universe and everything. Maybe that a fourteen hundred dollar phone can offer useful features for some, or maybe not. Personally I would prefer paying an arm and a leg for a top end computer rather than a phone but there are people who want a status symbol for showing off and a phone is ideal for that purpose, after all is akin to a luxury watch. And watches can get unbelievably expensive -you can spend millions over a wrist watch, if you've got the money and motivation for doing that. To each one his own, there are great "jewel" luxury smartphones for sale that offer not so great technology encased in diamond encrusted golden frames, and one even managed to pull a $1000 app doing nothing other than witnessing the wealth, stupidity and vanity of the buyer. And know what ? we should be fine with that.

American exceptionalism is a thing : they are exceptional in their record of human rights violations, brazen hypocrisy, mass slaughter of innocent people, use of homicide and torture and death penalty and banned weapons, number of coups and wars directly or indirectly waged upon weak nations and generally being the scourge, scum and curse of this planet.
